At Clermont, Fla., Gina Facchini homered as Western Connecticut State University defeated Colby College of Waterville in five innings.
The game was delayed seven hours due to rain.
Melissa Fracker hit a triple for Western Connecticut and Danielle Basciano and Amy Hartman each doubled twice.
Barbara Santos doubled and singled to lead Colby.

UMPI, Southern Virginia split
At Buena Vista, Va., the University of Maine-Presque Isle scored four runs in the sixth inning and the Owls held on to defeat Southern Virginia University 4-1 in the opener.
SVU prevailed 5-1 in the second game.
In the first game, Kellie Peers hit a two-run single for the Owls. Emily Staples singled twice and scored a run and Danielle Humphrey doubled.
Nicole Russell earned the win by allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out two while going the distance.
Abigail Baxter singled twice for Southern Virginia and Abbie Fisher drove in a run. Kyla Christmas struck out six.
In the second game, Southern Virginia scored single runs in the first five innings. Christmas had two hits, including a solo home run. She also recorded five strikeouts and allowed one run to earn the win.
Desiree Smith tripled to lead UM-Presque Isle. Russell singled twice and Carolyn Tuck singled and scored a run.

Bowdoin wins one of three
At Clermont, Fla., Bowdoin College of Brunswick played three games, earning a 4-1 win over Allegheny College and losses of 3-0 against Eastern Connecticut State University and 2-1 vs. the University of Chicago in eight innings.
In the first game, Tricia Thibodeau allowed two hits over six innings to lead Bowdoin past Allegheny. Kara Nilan had a double, two singles and knocked in a run. Shavonne Lord singled with two RBIs.
In the second game, Molly Rathbun allowed one hit to earn a shutout victory for Eastern Connecticut. She walked none and struck out eight. Priscille Alicea doubled, singled and drove in two runs.
Caorline Dewar singled for Bowdoin.
In the third game, the University of Chicago had a two-out double to drive in a run in the top of the eighth and held on to win.
The game was started on Sunday, but was postponed with the game tied 1-1.
Julia Jacobs pitched all eight innings, striking out seven for Bowdoin. Shavonne Lord doubled and scored off a Hillary Smyth single.

Joey Diamond (University of Maine freshman forward), men’s hockey rookie, scored a goal in Maine’s 5-2 win over Boston University in the Hockey East Tournament in Boston and added two goals and an assist in Maine’s 7-6 overtime loss to Boston College for the championship.
Little East Conference
John Carey (University of Southern Maine freshman from South Portland), baseball rookie, batted .382 with six runs scored, three doubles, a home run and six RBIs and committed two errors in 45 chances at second base.
Jessica Knight (University of Southern Maine senior from Alfred), women’s lacrosse offensive player, had 11 points, including nine goals, in a 1-1 week.
NESCAC
Amy Campbell (Colby College), women’s lacrosse, scored 13 goals and reached the 100-goal career milestone in a 3-0 week.
North Atlantic Conference
McKenzie Burke (Maine Maritime Academy freshman from Wells), softball pitcher, improved to 3-0 on the year after pitching five innings, allowing seven hits and no walks while striking out three.
Mallery Stanley (Maine Maritime Academy junior from Standish), softball, went 4-for-6 with seven RBIs and two runs scored in a 2-0 week.
Casey McCloskey (Maine Maritime Academy freshman from Howland), softball rookie, allowed one hit and one run while striking out six through five innings and went 5-for-5 from the plate with a walk in six plate appearances. She scored three runs and had three RBIs with two steals.

Alex Huffman (Husson University senior), women’s lacrosse, tallied five goals on eight shots in Husson 18-4 win over Becker.
