FORT KENT – Scott Joseph Guimond, 44, passed away March 31, 2010, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageously fought battle with cancer. Scott was born Dec. 3, 1965, in Fort Kent, the son of Albert Guimond Jr. “June” and Pauline (Corriveau) Guimond. Scott was a graduate of Fort Kent Community High School and was chosen as class marshal for his graduating class at Northern Maine Community College, Presque Isle. Scott was a firm believer in giving of his time and many talents to the betterment of his community. He was actively involved with organizing and volunteered generously to St. John Vianney Catholic Parish, Lonesome Pine Ski Trails, Can-Am sled dog races, 10th Mountain Biathlon Center and a variety of other community activities. Because of his involvement with these organizations, he developed many lasting friendships both within and outside the Fort Kent community. Scott also had many dear friends from his employment and acquaintances at Fish River Rural Health. Scott firmly believed in faith, family and friends. Scott enjoyed time with family, friends and nature by spending time on the family farm, kayaking the Fish River, canoeing the Allagash, climbing Mount Katahdin, skiing and biking. In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Mabel Guimond; his devoted siblings, Paul and his wife, Joanne (Pelletier), Donald, and David and his wife, Elaine (Corriveau), all of Fort Kent; and his only sister, Lisa and her husband, Bradford Kites, of Lincoln. Scott’s children were his nephews and nieces, Jacob and his fiancee, Margaret Cote, Carissa and Iris Guimond, Kristopher and Amelia Guimond, Andrew, Jeremy and Patrick Kites; and the children of his many dear friends. Scott always had the fondest of memories for all his many aunts, uncles and cousins, whom he cherished. He will also be missed dearly by his dog, TD – the dog. Per Scott’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent, by the Rev. James Nadeau. Spring burial will be held at a later date. A celebration of his life will be held immediately after his funeral service at Lonesome Pine Ski Trails.
