BAILEYVILLE – Martha G. Yates, 87, passed away May 4, 2010, in Calais. She was born Aug. 22, 1922, at Grand Lake Stream, a daughter of Hill Gould and Ada Chambers. She was a lifelong member of 10-30 Women’s Club, and was fire chief and volunteer at Grand Lake Stream during the war years of 1944 and 1945. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Harold “Red” Yates; and sister, Anna Cataldo. Martha is survived by her daughters, Donna Boomer and husband, Phil, and Sandra Carver and husband, Al; sister, Sophie Melanson; grandsons, Wayne Simpson, Tracy Carver and wife, Debbie, and Marc Simpson and wife, Karen; great-grandsons, Adam Simpson, Lyndon Carver and Robbie Meserve; great-granddaughters, Amanda Simpson, Whitney Farrell, Marie Carver and Catharine Simpson; great-great-grandsons, Austin Gross and Christian; great-great-granddaughter, Brianna Gross; two great-granddaughters of the heart, Desiree Tyrell and Shawna Carver; as well as her lifelong friend, Louise “Pip” Moore.
