OLD TOWN and PLEASANT POINT – Susan Ann (Snow) Holmes, 90, died May 4, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at home in Old Town. She was born June 27, 1919, in Bar Harbor, and grew up in Northeast Harbor and Pleasant Point. Susan was the daughter of John Snow and Alice Francis (Socobasin). Susan was well known for her love of cats. She took in many strays throughout the years. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Ann’s Parish, Indian Island. She loved going out to eat, spending time with her family and reading books. She was very proud of her Passamaquoddy heritage and looked forward each year to Indian Day celebrations at Sipayik. She is survived by her three children, Eva Senatro of Bangor, John Holmes of Pleasant Point, and Charlene Tyrell of Indian Township and beloved cat, Mackerel; grandchildren, Steve and wife, Susan, Joan and friend, Mark, Sharon and significant other, Allen, Celeste and husband, Kevin, Jimmy and wife, Christina, Dan, Julie and significant other, Chris, Lee, Christopher, Alice and Pat; great-grandchildren, John and wife, Abbey, Steven, Sienna, Mike, Alexis, Charles, Lauren, Zoozap, Jessie, Damien, Adrienne, Felicia, Noah, Tristen, Jayden, Desiree, Shawna, Marie, Jesse, Tessa, Jillian and Jimmy; great-great- grandchildren, Rueben, Jani, Miguel and Kaiden; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Linda. In addition to her parents, Susan was predeceased by her husband, Michael; sisters, Bertha, Josephine and Juanita; and brothers Phillip and Louie. Susan made friends wherever she went, including her friends at Penobscot Riverhouse, especially Priscilla, David, Marilee and Julie. The family expresses a special thanks to Esther Attean, Pat Alamenas, Meridith Bruskin, Eastern Maine Hospice team and the hospice volunteers of Indian Island. Visiting hours will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 6, until 9 a.m. Saturday at Elderly Meal Site, Pleasant Point. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at St. Ann’s R.C. Church, Pleasant Point, with Father James Plourde officiating. Burial will be afterward at Pleasant Point Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais and Eastport.
