JACKSON – Lucille E. Curtis, 65, passed away May 9, 2010, at Waldo County Hospital with her two sons by her side. Lucille was born Feb. 20, 1945, in Monroe, the youngest child of Jefferson and Florence (Dodge) Eldridge of Jackson. She graduated from Morse High School and attended Beal College, Bangor. She worked for SAD 3 as secretary for many principals at Mount View High School for more than 42 years. Lucille was an avid photographer and has a collection of thousands of photos of grandkids and any events she attended. She loved to scrapbook and has many beautiful books put together. She also loved to crochet and knit for her grandkids, and just finished two large afghans for a nephew and niece’s wedding. Lucille loved TV shows, especially present “Dancing with the Stars” each season. She is survived by two sons, Robert “Bob” Curtis and wife, Kristi, of Brooks and Richard “Rick” Curtis and wife, Darci, of Jackson; six grandchildren – the joys of her life – Alyssa, Megan, Robert “Bo,” Isabelle, Morgan and Ryan Curtis; also a special niece whom she thought of as her daughter, Lisa Larrabee. She is also survived by two sisters, Beverly Ludden of Jackson and Shirley Chadbourne and husband, Leonard, of Palmyra; one brother, Robert Eldridge and wife, Sharon, of Jackson; also many nieces and nephews whom she helped through Mount View whether it was advice, money for lunch, a ride now and then, or a call to their parents. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Graveside services for family only will be held Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lucille’s memory to the Scholarship Fund, Mount View High School, care of Tanya Hubbard, 577 Mount View Road, Thorndike, ME 04986.
