ORONO – Neil C. White, 86, passed away May 10, 2010, at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born Aug. 11, 1923, in Old Town, the son of Ora and Violet (Weeks) White. Neil served in the 740th Signal Air Warning Company in the Pacific Campaign as a radar crewman. He was the recipient of several awards of distinction while serving his country. Neil worked for Striars Mill for many years, Oronoka, and Big Apple, Orono, retiring in 2008. He is survived by daughter, Nancy White of Orono; son, Herman “Bud” White and his wife, Carol, of Old Town; three grandchildren, Sarah, Keith and Megan; a sister, Betty Tripp of Old Town; brother, Norman White of Amarillo, Texas; nieces, Deborah Gilamn and Kathy Barton, and their families of Old Town. Special thanks to the Orono police and fire departments, and all caregivers who cared for him at Maine Veterans Home. At his request, there will be no formal funeral services. Burial will be at Maplegrove Cemetery, Old Town. Memorial contributions may be made to Orono Fire EMS, 59 Main St., Orono, ME 04473.
