OLD TOWN – Irene C. Pelletier, 86, wife of the late Carl R. Pelletier, died May 12, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 24, 1924, in Old Town, the daughter of John and Phoebe (Sharp) Brooks. Irene was a working mom with emphasis on her family, best known for her pie making. Irene was a very active Old Town community member, and a member of Stillwater Federated and Old Town United Methodist churches, where she started the Couples Club and was president of Old Town PTA. Irene was a member of Connecticut Realtors Association for 30 years and lived in Groton, Conn., selling real estate. She is survived by her son, John “Rookie” Pelletier formerly of Groton, Conn., and now of Orono; two daughters, Cheryl Pelletier and her husband, Bruce Vermeulen, of Blue Hill, and Deborah Pelletier of Clinton, Conn.; two grandsons, Carl and Scott Vermeulen; and a very special niece, Janet Goodrich of Orono. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town, with the Rev. Joan DeSancitis, pastor of Old Town United Methodist Church, officiating.
