ORRINGTON – Frank W. Shaw Sr., 85, passed away May 13, 2010, at his residence. He was born Sept. 1, 1924, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Frank and Annie (Carver) Shaw. Frank served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II stationed in Italy. He was a member of East Orrington Congregational Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Avis (Wardwell) Shaw; daughter, Shaun and her husband, Van DeCesere; sons, Frank “Sonny” Jr. and wife, Debbie, Jeffrey, and Eric and wife, Lisa; granddaughter, Kristie Withee and husband, Josh; grandsons, Justin and Eric Jr.; great-grandson, Patrick; stepgrandsons, Matthew Gould and Seth Tremble; sisters-in-law, Lillian Goss and Gloria Shaw; a special niece, Ruthie Veazie and husband, Doug; many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, George E. Shaw. A memorial gathering will be held noon-2 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a memorial service will begin 1 p.m. Gifts in Frank’s memory may be made to East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Road, Orrington, ME 04474.
