ADDISON – Leon “Lee” G. Yeaton, 77, died May 20, 2010, with his wife at his side, at home on his beloved farm overlooking Pleasant River, after a 3 1/2-year battle with progressive supranuclear palsy. He was born Nov. 9, 1932, in Exeter, N.H., the son of Lloyd B. Yeaton and Muriel Hayes Yeaton. Lee attended Exeter schools and Dover Agricultural Academy. He joined the Air Force serving in Iceland. He graduated from McIntosh Business College and went to work in the insurance business, first in Dover, N.H., with Richardson Webb Insurance and then founding his own business, The Insurance Place, Exeter, N.H., where he worked until moving to Addison, in 1986, where he established Pleasant Bay Llama Keep and Pleasant Bay Bed and Breakfast with his wife, Joan. Lee was the first charter president of the Dover (N.H.) Jaycee’s. He served on the Dover City Council and was elected to the N.H. Governor’s Council in the 1970s. He served on the Addison Fire Department and was instrumental in starting up Pleasant River Ambulance Service and Pleasant River Transfer Station, where he served as the first general manager. He was elected to Maine Municipal Association and served for five years. He also owned and operated Yeaton Management and Consulting Firm. Lee loved being outside exploring in the woods, working on his farm, traveling with his wife, Joan, and hunting in the fall with his longtime friend, Bud Booth. Spending time with members of the O.F.C. was a special joy and he treasured their friendship and their dedication during his illness, especially the readers who came in daily to read when he could no longer see to read himself.
