SANDY POINT – Marilyn R. DeRedin, 73, died peacefully Sunday, May 23, 2010, at a Bangor hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born May 8, 1937, in Bangor, the daughter of William and Claire (Cromwell) Doughty. She graduated from Winterport High School in 1956 and worked at Fox & Ginn, Bangor, before her marriage. Marilyn’s joy in life was her family, traveling and spending time with her husband on the river. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Alfred DeRedin; five children, Terry DeRedin and wife, Annette, of Winterport, Jane York and husband, Fred, of Knox, Alayne Colby and husband, Keith, of Belfast, Glenn DeRedin and wife, Gloria, of Bucksport, and Jerrold DeRedin and wife, Amber, of Bucksport; eight grandchildren, Kym, Jason and Jessica York, Ryan DeRedin, Jordan Colby, Billy and Carter DeRedin, and Andrew DeRedin; three great-grandchildren, Gregory Smith, Xavier York and Miles Carter; sisters and brother-in-law, Janis McKeen, Kay Coleman, Leola DeRedin, Linda and Clarence Elden; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her brother, David Doughty. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at Sandy Point Congregational Church with Pastor Ruth Martin officiating. Burial will be at Sandy Point Cemetery. Memorial donations in Marilyn’s memory may be made to Stockton Springs Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 339, Stockton Springs, ME 04981. Arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
