MILLINOCKET – Roderic J. “Rod” Morrison, 60, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Oct. 1, 1949, in Millinocket, son of Frederic C. and Leatha C. (Davis) Morrison. Rod was a graduate of Stearns High School, Class of 1968, and Husson College, Class of 1972. He was a co-captain of Stearns High School state championship basketball team of 1968. Rod worked for Great Northern Paper Co., Millinocket, as a research technician for 32 years, retiring in 2003. He loved all sports. Rod enjoyed his daily coffee rides and loved spending time at his camp at South Twin Lake with his buddies. He was a good cook, and taught several people how to prepare lamb. Rod also enjoyed watching the cooking channel. He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1521, Millinocket. Rod always looked forward to his annual trip to Daicey Pond with his buddies, and was always ready to sit around a campfire with friends and family, where he was usually the chief entertainer. In addition to his parents, Rod is survived by a daughter, Megan Morrison of Miami Beach, Fla., and her mother, Luann Krebs, of Leeds, Mass.; three sisters, Sherrie Curtis and her husband, Mac, of Skowhegan, Rebecca Kelly and her husband, John, of Millinocket and Heather Craig and her husband, Ed, of Millinocket; two brothers, Davis Morrison and his wife, Gladys, and Mark Morrison and his wife, Rhonda, all of Millinocket; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rod was predeceased by an infant sister, Lisa Morrison. Friends are invited to visit with the family 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where funeral services will begin 3 p.m. with the Rev.
