PATTEN – Dale Palmer Steen, 65, died June 5, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 12, 1945, daughter of Kenneth and Helen Palmer of Patten. She struggled with and waged a valiant battle for 41 years with multiple sclerosis. She never complained and maintained a positive attitude through the course of her illness. She was a class act. She loved to travel with her husband on business trips throughout the country and especially liked Chicago, which she visited several times. Despite her illness, she raised two daughters. She loved cats and had many during the course of her life. She was married in 1964 to her surviving husband and would have celebrated her 46th anniversary in three months. Of those 46 years, 41 years were lined with multiple sclerosis. For the past 20 months, Dale was a resident of Mount Heights Health Care Facility, Patten, where she was pampered and cared for by the caring staff. In addition to her husband, Herschel Steen of Patten, she is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Anderson and her husband, Sheldon, of Patten and Heather Murray and her husband, David, of Fair Haven, Vt.; grandchildren, Morgan, Jared, John, Britteny, Chelsea and Josh; and her brother, Rance Palmer and his wife, Rita, of Patten. She was predeceased by her parents; and an infant brother, Ronald. A ceremony celebrating her life will be scheduled at a later date.
