WINTER HARBOR – Dora Estella (Hardison) Spofford-Young, 86, died June 3, 2010, in Winter Harbor. She was born March 29, 1924, in Waltham, daughter of Arthur E. and Evelyn E. (Kemp) Hardison. Dora worked at Ellsworth Woolen Mill and Winter Harbor Grade School. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Dora was a member of Civil Air Patrol, an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and a member of Winter Harbor Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra M. (Spofford) Stilwell-Greenwood and her husband, Eugene, of Winter Harbor; three brothers, Floyd Hardison and wife, Norma, Robert Hardison and wife, Verna, all of Waltham, and Merrill “Bill” Hardison of Franklin; sister, Laverne Griffin of Waltham; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, Paul Young and Sherry (Young) Wheeler, both of Westbrook, Raymond Young of Monroe, William Young of Buxton and Kathy (Young) Lurvey of Windsor; several stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren. Dora was predeceased by her beloved husband of 27 years, Richard F. Spofford; second husband, Harold “Herbie” Young; and two sisters, Wilda M. Crosby and Leota M. Higgins. Friends are invited to call 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where services of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 10, with the Rev.
