HOULTON – Doris M. (Albert) Stover, 89, died June 8, 2010, in Houlton. She was born July 9, 1920, in Houlton, the 10th child to William and Jennie (Campbellton) Albert. She was a graduate of Houlton High School and attended Houlton Business College. During World War II, she was employed by the War Department in Washington, D.C. She loved the big city life while she was there and never lost her love of the city lights at night whenever she got a chance to see them. She retired from Houlton Regional Hospital at age 75, and loved to get out with people and loved to work. Shopping was also high on her list of fun things to do, and she did it at every opportunity. It was even more fun for her when she could find a willing shopping partner that could keep up with her. Many tried, few could. She enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she was absolutely adored by them as well. Doris is survived by two children, Sandra Plourde and her husband, Lucien, of Houlton and Carl and his wife, Marie Stover, of Warner-Robins, Ga.; two grandchildren, Susanne White and her husband, Jon, or Orono and Michael Roy and his wife, Sarah, of Winterport; seven great-grandchildren, Noah, Eva, Cooper, Alex, Emma, Grace-Anne and Joey Jr.; as well as several very special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Clifford; her parents, three sisters and six brothers. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Friday, July 2, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Houlton, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. with Father Roger Cyr, celebrant. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to Houlton Humane Society, P.O. Box 548, Houlton, ME 04730 or to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton.
