BANGOR – Jeanne M. Wallace, 92, died peacefully Thursday, June 17, 2010, at a Bangor hospital with her family at her side. She was born June 23, 1917, in Bangor, the daughter of William and Lillian (Goode) Finnegan. Jeanne grew up in Bangor and was a graduate of Bangor High School. After raising her children she enjoyed a career with Freese’s Department Store. Jeanne enjoyed many hobbies, including knitting, crocheting, traveling, wintering in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and outings at the family camp on Branch Lake. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was the joy of her life. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Philip Downes of Sidney and Lynne and Robert Beal of Scarborough; two sons and their wives, William “Barney” Wallace Jr. and Sally of Kenduskeag and Warren Wallace and Barbara of Viera, Fla.; grandchildren, Tom, Laurie, Butch, Wendy, Billy, Chris, Jaime, Kelly, Katie and Robbie; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; niece, Sharon Karl; and special friend, Cathy Maher. In addition to her parents, Jeanne was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, William G. Wallace Sr.; son, Thomas B. Wallace; sister, Patricia Belliveau; and brothers, John and Billy Finnegan. Relatives and friends are invited to call 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, June 21, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, June 21, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor. Interment will be after at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio Street, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the services at the church.
