NEWPORT, Maine — A Dover-Foxcroft man has been charged in connection with a bomb threat at Nokomis Regional High School.
Alex Kasprzak, 20, has been charged with two counts of terrorizing for making threatening phone calls on June 10, the last day of school, according to Newport Police Chief Leonard Macdaid. The threats turned out to be bogus but disrupted end-of-year activities and tied up rescue personnel for hours as they swept the school. Macdaid said an investigation of phone records led to Kasprzak, who allegedly has admitted to the crimes was summoned Sunday.
“He did confess to doing it,” said Macdaid. “The good news is that this wasn’t a Nokomis student.”
Kasprzak allegedly told investigators that he made the threats because of a problem he had with a piano recital that was scheduled for that evening. Macdaid had no further details, other than that one of the bomb threats specifically made reference to the recital, which was then moved to Newport Elementary School.
“I’m just happy we cleared this up,” said Macdaid. “I want to make sure people know how serious these situations are.”
