OLD TOWN – Kenneth G. Wood Jr., 74, died unexpectedly, yet peacefully, June 26, 2010, at his residence. He was born Dec. 17, 1935, in Old Town, a son of Kenneth Sr. and Barbara Chase (Porter) Wood. Ken owned and operated 3 E Electric, Old Town, for more than 33 years. He was an active member of Old Town – Orono Kiwanis Club since 1969, having served in the capacity of president and lieutenant governor. He was also a life member of Old Town Elks Lodge and served on Old Town City Council. He loved to travel – especially trips to Arizona and Texas. He will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor and his “no problem” attitude. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley (Roy) Wood; five children, Mark A. Wood of Orono, Katherine (Wood) Perkins and her husband, Dale, Kenneth G. Wood III and his significant other, Stephanie Stevens, and Jon M. Wood Sr., all of Old Town and Holly J. Wood and her significant other, Nathan Cloutier, of Arizona; nine grandchildren, Vicky, Andrea and Bret Perkins, Alisha, Gloria, Joey, Tyler, Ryan and Jon Wood Jr.; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Lounsbury and his wife, Vina, of Old Town; two sisters, Carolyn Scharf and her husband, Bill, of New Hampshire and Pamela Gray of Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and three special brothers-in-law, Francis Roy, Arthur Garceau and Linwood Potter. A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. Interment will be after at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately after interment all are invited to Holy Family Parish Hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
