TRENTON – With heavy hearts, the family of Joan Patricia Ketchen said their final farewell to her June 25, 2010. Although there is nothing we would love more than to have her here with us, we know that she is in a better place and no longer suffering. Joan was born Aug. 20, 1933, in Madawaska, to I’rene and Juliette Bouchard. She grew up in Togus and went to Cony High School. She married her soul mate, Alfred J. Ketchen, June 21, 1952. After raising her family, Joan attended St. Clair County Community College, Port Huron, Mich., graduated from DeLor Beauty School and was a licensed cosmetologist for many years in the Ellsworth and Bar Harbor areas. She also graduated from Dress Design School, Monterey, Calif. She owned a tailored seamstress business, sewing for Terra Cotta and had a distinguished clientele. Joan left behind her best friend for the past 58 years, her husband, Alfred J. Ketchen; her children, Joyce Ketchen, Nancy Klemmer and her husband, Gary, Pamila Alley and her husband, Robert, and Alfred Ketchen Jr. and his wife, Julie; 10 grandchildren, Glenn Coe, Jason Klemmer, Cheryl Coe, Leigh Klemmer, Sara, Carl and Carla Alley, Cameron, Abbie and A.J. Ketchen; two great-grandchildren, Melanie Alley-Nicholls and Austin Klemmer; and her brothers, Joe and Don Bouchard. Visitation will take place 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with a celebration Mass 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellsworth. Interment will take place at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
