GUILFORD – Irvin H. Abbott, 78, passed away June 26, 2010, at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born Feb. 11, 1932, in Eastbrook, to Leslie and Angie (Ashe) Abbott. Irvin served in the Air Force during the Korean War and retired from Pride MFG after working there for 35 years. He truly enjoyed going to Bull Hill hunting camp with his sons and friends to hunt, play cards and tell stories. Irvin and his family enjoyed many great times at the family camp on Molasses Pond, Eastbrook. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Zelma (Flagg) Abbott; children, Glenn Stevens and his wife, Lisa, of Hendersonville, N.C., Nadine Abbott of Guilford, Howard Abbott of Eastbrook, Eric Abbott and his wife, Shawna, of Guilford, Valerie (Abbott) Norman of Guilford and Warren Abbott and honorary family member, Julie Patterson, of Abbot; grandchildren, Ryan Abbott, John Firth III, Heather, Chad and Corey Stevens, Maggie and Ethan Abbott; great-granddaughter, Hannah Firth; sisters, Bertha Taylor and husband, Keith, Patsy Firlotte and husband, Paul, and Marcia Chapman and husband, Dick; many special nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held 2 p.m. until the time of service 3 p.m. Friday, July 2, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Interment will be noon Saturday, July 3, at Sunnyside Cemetery, Eastbrook, with a celebration of life immediately after at the camp, 13 Irving Lane, Eastbrook. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mayo Regional Hospital or enjoy a lobster dinner and think of Irvin.
