OAKLAND, Md., and LAMBERT LAKE – Harvey Albert Grass, 71, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born May 6, 1939, in Danforth, son of the late Clyde R. and Winnifred F. (Harvey) Grass. Harvey enlisted in the Navy when he was 17 years old, and served on the USS Wisconsin and the USS Galveston. Harvey retired as a lieutenant from Fairfax County Fire Department. He attended Crellin United Methodist Church, was a member of the National Rifle Association, loved to fish with his family and friends, hunt and was an avid gardener. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Blaine. Surviving are his wife, Martha (Knotts) Grass of Oakland, Md; children, Christy Tripp of Hermon, Stephen Grass of Ellsworth and Dianna Werner of Hermon; brothers, Douglas Grass of Hudson and Martin Grass of Lambert Lake; grandchildren, Matthew and Jessica Tripp, Logan Grass, Brianna and Danielle Shaw, Michael and Nicholas Werner; and Martha’s children, Susie Harsh, John McCartney, Billy McCartney and their families. At Mr. Grass’s request, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
