PRESQUE ISLE – Helen Doherty, 76, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at her residence. She was born Sept. 28, 1933, in Easton, a daughter of Linwood and Dorothy (West) Johnston. She worked for Grossmans, IGA, Fort Fairfield, and H.A. Pollock Potato Co. Helen loved life and people. Everyone was her friend. She is survived by her son, Brian Simpson and his wife, Sandy, of Presque Isle; four grandchildren, Leane Sprague, Jeff Simpson, Justin Simpson and Shelly Roope; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters, Vera Scott of Houlton, Lois White of Mapleton, Joyce Rooks of Martin, Tenn., Bonnie Guerette of Portland and Debbie Fusco of Oxford, Conn.; two brothers, Lynny Johnston of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Philip Johnston of Cape Cod, Mass.; a special friend and companion, Herbert C. Haines of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 2, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Asa Cook and the Rev. Anthony Scott officiating. Friends may call 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
