BANGOR – Jeanne Laurette (Chasse) Desjardins passed away peacefully July 2, 2010. She was born July 22, 1918, in Frenchville, the daughter of Maxime and Marie (Picard) Chasse. She was raised in Frenchville along with her 11 brothers and sisters. Due to financial circumstances growing up she did not finish high school, but earned her GED in 1970 from Bangor High School and took college courses at Bangor Theological Seminary. She married Jules A. Desjardins, May 27, 1946, and they lived and raised five children in Bangor. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and was active in the sodality and the PTA for St. Mary’s School. She taught Sunday school in the 1960s and 1970s, and was a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Jules; nine brothers and sisters; and her great-granddaughter, Kaydence Desjardins. She is survived by her brother, Robert Chasse of Melbourne Fla.; sister, Marcella Flanagan of Lake Hopatcong, N.J.; five children: son, Gerard Desjardins and his wife, Bonnie, daughters, Anne Desjardins and her husband, Randy Kane, Claire Desjardins, Jeanne Spaulding, and Therese Anderson and her husband, Kerry; six grandchildren, Benjamin Spaulding and his wife, Amanda, Christopher Desjardins and Elisa Hurley, Jeremiah Spaulding, Steven Desjardins and his fiancee, Kelly Dziedzic, Jessica Pratt and fiance, Thomas Trembley, and Laurel Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Grant and Vivian Spaulding and Madison Rooker; many nephews and nieces. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, July 8, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Church, Ohio Street, Bangor, with a brief interment service afterward at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
