SEARSPORT and BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Gerry Horowitz, 88, wife of the late Harold “Hal” Horowitz, died July 9, 2010, at a Penobscot health care center, after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Louis and Anna (Grauer) Kreitman. She attended New York City schools and graduated from the University of New York. Gerry enjoyed reading all her life. She was a bookkeeper for many years in New York City before retiring to Maine in 1980. Surviving are one son, Dr. Richard Horowitz and his wife, Lee Ann, of Searsport; a daughter, Judy Horowitz of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a grandson, Michael Horowitz and his wife, Brenda, of Scarborough; and a granddaughter, Kim Elliott of Auburn. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, July 11, at Beth Israel Cemetery, Bangor.
