PEMBROKE – Ruthella L. Clark, 90, passed away peacefully Friday, July 9, 2010, at Atlantic Rehab & Nursing Center, Calais. Ruthella was born June 26, 1920, in Pembroke, daughter of the late Samuel Rice and Vesta (Carter) Rice Jones. She graduated from Pembroke High School, Class of 1938, and furthered her education in cosmetology. Ruthella owned and operated her own beauty salon, Ruthella’s Beauty Shop, Eastport, for many years. She was a member of Literary Round Table, Eastport, and was a founding member of Pembroke Historical Society, where she served as treasurer. Ruthella also was a member of People’s United Methodist Church, Pembroke, and Grace Christian Church, Pembroke. She enjoyed reading, traveling and all kinds of animals. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Wesley Clark; and a brother, Arthur Kingsley Rice. Surviving are her two sisters, Connie MacArthur of Calais and Cynthia DeWitt and her husband, Gary, of South Carolina; two brothers, Ted Jones and his wife, Joanie, of Pembroke and The Villages, Fla., and Dennis Jones and his wife, Vicki, of Pembroke; sister-in-law, Janet Rice Brown of Edmunds; many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at Clarkside Cemetery, Pembroke. Donations in Ruthella’s memory may be made to P.A.W.S. Humane Society, P.O.
