BANGOR — The Holbrook and Hermon Junior League baseball all-star teams advanced to today’s round with elimination-game victories in the District 3 tourney Friday night at Mansfield Stadium.

Hermon defeated Sebasticook in the first game 5-4 and Holbrook beat Brewer in the nightcap 11-7.

Hermon will play at 5 p.m. today against the loser of the Houlton-Bangor game, while Holbrook will follow at 7:30 p.m. against the loser of the Hampden-Old  Town game.

In Friday’s first game, Ben Wheeler’s two-run single with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning drove home the tying and winning runs for Hermon.

Jake Winslow had an RBI double and Zack Ramsdell also doubled for Sebasticook.

In the  nightcap, Brendan Newcomb’s two-run double highlighted a four-run first-inning rally that propelled Holbrook to victory.

Newcomb also singled and finished the game with four RBIs, while Seth Pearson singled twice for Holbrook.

Jacob Hartin doubled and singled with two RBIs for Brewer, while Tony Bissell singled twice.

    At Calais, Charles Libby pitched a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and one walk as Ellsworth remained unbeaten.

Libby outdueled Daniel McPhee of Calais, who came on in the first inning after starter Kyle Johnson was injured.

Ellsworth scored the game’s only runs in the top of the fifth. Conor Maguire doubled and went to third on an error before scoring on a double by Hank Vinall. Libby then singled home Vinall to make it 2-0.

Vinall and Libby each finished with a double and single for Ellsworth.

McPhee and Walsh Troiani-Gagner each singled for Calais.

    At Machias, Dylan Collin tripled, singled and scored two runs to help Acadian eliminate Machias.

Tanner Bickford tripled and scored for Acadian. Seth Young and Rylea Swanson both hit a double.

Dylan Fitzhenry hit a solo home run in the sixth for Machias. Cameron Varney had two singles and a run and Vincent Tzo doubled.

    At East Machias, Logan Huckins and Haley Hankins each hit three singles and drove in three runs as Machias eliminated Acadian.

Machias plays Ellsworth for the championship on Monday.

Lauren Raye had two singles and a run for Machias. Danika Foss struck out seven while picking up the win.

Kelsey Shaw hit a single and a two-run double to lead Acadian. Keely McConomy had two singles and two RBIs.

    At Bangor, Emily Reilly tossed a one-hitter while striking out nine to shut down Hampden.

Reilly helped her own cause by doubling and singling while Skylar Cassum and Syndi Cosgrove each added a double and a single.

Brianna Cota had an RBI single for Hampden.
