NEWBURGH – Vivian Carolyn (Ross) Rines, 81, wife of the late Henry W. Rines, went home to be with her Lord and Savior July 18, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was born Jan. 12, 1929, in Carmel, daughter of the late Eugene A. and Dorothy M. (Mayhew) Ross. She was raised in Levant, one of 17 children. Vivian and Henry were married Dec. 5, 1947, and lived most of their lives in Newburgh. She was a Christian lady and a member of Hermon Baptist Church. During her life she cared for private and foster children. She enjoyed NASCAR racing, especially No. 24 Jeff Gordon. Vivian’s focus in life was always on her family. She will be remembered as a loving, devoted, generous and selfless mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Vivian is survived by one daughter, Gloria J. Jellison and husband, Royce, of Saco; two sons, Dennis D. Rines and wife, Janice “Jan,” and Ricky S. Rines and wife, Loretta, all of Newburgh; four grandchildren, Aaron Jellison, Wendy Daigle and husband, Rick, Elizabeth Deane and husband, Ryan, and Craig Rines and wife, Heather; four great-grandchildren, Abigail Daigle, Brianna Rines, Brock and Trent Deane; many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband in 1992; by their daughter, Deborah Rines, in 1977; by four brothers; and one sister. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Hermon Baptist Church, 2496 Route 2, Hermon, with Pastor Garnett Chute officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church 10 a.m. until the time of service. A time of remembrance and refreshments will be held after the service at the fellowship hall of the church. A committal service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hill Cemetery, Newburgh. Memorial gifts in Vivian’s name may be made to Hermon Baptist Church, 2496 Route 2, Hermon, ME 04401.
