ORONO – Ronald J. Soucier, 63, died peacefully July 20, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. Never fully recovering from lung cancer and having multiple sclerosis contributed to his death. He was born Jan. 22, 1947, in Old Town, son of Walter Joseph Sr. and Anita (LeGasse) Soucier. Ron retired after 30 years at the former mill, Champion International, Costigan. Ron enjoyed singing and listening to Elvis Presley music, watching movies – especially those with Elvis in them, socializing and helping others. He had been residing at a local nursing home the last few years due to his declining health, but this did not stop him from enjoying his daily coffee and cigarettes. He is survived by his two children, Kelly Soucier of Old Town and David Soucier and his wife, Karen, of Bradley; four grandchildren, Dylan Gilman of Old Town, Sierra Gilman of Argyle Township, Jordan and Desmond Soucier, both of Bradley; his wife of 37 years, Nancy of Old Town; two sisters, Ruthie Lecroix of Greenville, N.H., and Dorothy “Theresa” Quimby of Norridgewock; a special aunt, Ruth Burke of Old Town; a very dear friend, Arthur Doliber of Milford; many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Louis Soucier and Walter Soucier Jr. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town.
