WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. – Judith Gail Ludden departed Thursday, July 22, 2010, leaving her husband of 50 years, Gerry Ludden. Though residing in Connecticut much of her life, Judy’s heart always brought her back to the beautiful state of her childhood – Maine. This is where she grew up, polished her athletic skills and competitive spirit playing softball and basketball in Brooks. Brooks is also where she met her husband and enjoyed the beauty of Swan Lake, Swanville, with her family. Judy gained many friends driving a school bus in Windsor Locks, Conn., and later became a tireless bus dispatcher. During these years in Windsor Locks, Conn., she could always be seen and especially heard cheering at the sporting events of her children. With her husband, her appreciation for athletics and fair play was instilled in their children along with an abiding love. She touched the lives of many and more than a few called her their second mom. Her surviving family is proud to have called her sister, grandmother, mom and wife – her family will always cherish their time spent with her. In addition to her husband, Gerry, Judy is survived by their children, Duane of New Fairfield, Conn., Kim of Unity, Glen of Bristol, Conn., and Garrett of Southington, Conn.; grandchildren, Kurt, Rachel, Gary, Ryan, Zachary, Brian, Eric and Allison; and her brother, Roger Brown. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, Conn. A funeral service in celebration of Judy’s life will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, at First Congregational Church, 24 Veterans Highway, Brooks. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Judith Ludden to the American Cancer Society. For online expressions of sympathy or directions, please visit www.windsorlocksfuneralhome.com.
