BREWER – Dolores S. Cross died July 26, 2010, at her home. She was born April 19, 1923, in Old Town, to Jules “Cheboy” and Marjorie (Perry) Willette. Dolores grew up in Great Works, the oldest of eight children. She graduated from Old Town High School and married E. Joseph Cross of Old Town, July 15, 1946. After a long career working at HUD-FHA, she “retired” by working at Key Bank for several more years before deciding to really retire. Dolores enjoyed life doing many things – she loved to paint and took many classes throughout the years. She was an accomplished bridge player, played golf and loved to travel. Dolores loved being with her family and had many happy memories of Great Works and Chemo Pond. She was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Brewer. She is survived by her daughter, Susan M. Cross and her partner, Sandra Walker, of Bangor; son, William A. Cross and his wife, Deborah, and their children, Jenna and Lyndsey; grandchildren, Sarah S. Cross of Bangor and Benjamin E. Cross of Los Angeles; and daughter-in-law, Mary B Cross of Bangor. She is also survived by sisters, Evelyn Desmond and her husband, David, of Bath, Theresa Viola of Walpole, Mass., Charlene Brooks of Clifton, and Lois Hogan and her husband, William, of Veazie; a brother, Jules E. Ouellette of Old Town; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and many friends. Dolores was predeceased by her parents; husband; and brothers, Richard Willett and Merle Willette. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph’s Church, 531 North Main St., Brewer. Family and friends are invited to share refreshments and memories after the service. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
