WINTERPORT – June (Hackett) Smith died July 29, 2010, at a Bangor health care center. She was born in Bangor, daughter of William D. and Ethel M. (Towle) Hackett. She was a graduate of John Bapst High School, Bangor, and Beals College, Bangor. June worked for many years with the Bangor Police Department in the traffic department. June was an antique car enthusiast, loved camping and traveling, and was devoted to her family. Surviving are her beloved dog, Mollie; sister, Eileen H. Foley of Lakeland, Fla.; niece, Peggy McPike of Bangor; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, June was predeceased by her husband, Donald H. Smith; three sisters, Peggy Hackett, Mary (Hackett) Getchell and Helen (Hackett) Weatherbee; and two brothers, James Hackett and William Hackett. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor.
