BRADFORD – Mabelle Rose (Cook) Reeves, 89, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday Aug. 1, 2010, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born July 19, 1921, in Bradford, the daughter of Vivian and Grace (Hamilton) Cook. Mabelle attended Bradford schools and graduated valedictorian of her class in 1941. In 1941, she married Victor Reeves and worked with him at the family dairy farm until his retirement in 1980. As a teen she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16. She served her country during World War II as a plane watcher. Mabelle was a member of Bradford Baptist Church since 1941, where she served as church clerk for many years. Her desire for all those she knew was to accept the promise of Acts 16:31, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Mabelle is survived by her six children, Thayne and Kathy Reeves, Wylder and Diane Reeves, Lorraine Randall, Carl and Angie Reeves, Dick and Lynn Reeves, and David Reeves; 14 grandchildren, Chad, Jared, Brittany, David, Richard, Victoria, Dawn, Melanie, Chad, Heath, Doug, Dan, Kate and David; and five great-grandchildren, Shelby, Mariah, Brynn, Sophia and Hailey. She is survived by three very special, lifelong friends, Dot (Jones) Winship, Hilda Chase and Noreen Jones. She was predeceased by her husband, Victor; brothers, Ernest and Avery Cook; and sister, Avis Jandreau. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Bradford Baptist Church, 461 Main Road, Bradford, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, with Pastor Donald Booker and Pastor David Lassell officiating.
