PALMYRA – Francis A. McQuaid, 91, died Aug. 5, 2010, at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1919, in Chelsea, Mass., the son of Edward and Elizabeth (Culliton) McQuaid. He graduated from Immaculate Conception School, Revere, Mass., Class of 1932. Francis retired as vice president of Atlantic Savings Bank, Revere, Mass., and was a member of American Institute of Banking. He was a past grand knight of Knights of Columbus and a past member of Lions Club. He was a communicant of St. Agnes Church, Pittsfield, and a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Revere, Mass. He is survived by three daughters, Patricia and husband, William Eagar, of Middleboro, Mass., Frances Kemp of Plymouth, and Rita and husband, Dr. Paul Fallon, of Georgetown, Mass; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mrs. Hugh A. McQuaid of Revere, Mass.; two nieces, Elizabeth Marden of Worcester, Mass., and Dorothy (Roy) Gonnella of North Carolina; as well as special friends, Mae Corkran, Wayne and Sandra Richards, and Kevin and Mary Ellen Burke. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence (Adgate) McQuaid, in 1970; a son, E. Patrick McQuaid, in 1998; and a daughter, Catherine F. Steiner, in 2004. The family extends a special thanks to his fine caregivers, Kim Whitney, Alison Hamilton, Barbara Wade and Debbie Chute. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, where a prayer service will be held 3 p.m. with Deacon Frederick Harrigan officiating. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Immaculate Conception Church, 22 Lowe St., Revere, Mass. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, Mass.
