DENNYSVILLE – Edgar Earle Seavey, 86, died Aug. 11, 2010, at his home. He was born April 29, 1924, in Calais, son of Harry and Grace (Wallace) Seavey. He was a hard worker all of his life. He spent nearly 25 years working in the woods in the Crawford area. On Oct. 26, 1951, he married Mary (Stewart), and in 1964 they moved to Dennysville. There he worked for many years in a hen pen, later worked for Hallowell’s saw mill, and then became a bus driver for the Edmunds School Department. He then spent his last several years as a caretaker at Dennysville Heights until his retirement. During his retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He also served at Dennysville Fire Department for many years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Richard Seavey; a grandson, Gordon Seavey Jr. “GR”; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth; a sister, Thelma Hunnewell and husband, Shirley; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Eleanor Stewart. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary (Stewart) Seavey; children, Gordon Seavey and wife, Jeannie, of Crawford, Kenneth Seavey of Texas, Allan Seavey and wife, Shelley, of Edmunds, Marilyn Fenderson and husband, Bobby, of Marion, Sandra Matteson and husband, Loring, Carolyn Nicholas and husband, Jack, Cindy Seavey and companion, Charlie, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Seavey, all of Dennysville; grandchildren, Julie-Ann, Heather, Joshua, Shawna, Eric, Brittany, Sammy, Stevie, Shelby, Brian, Richard, Tina, Ryan, Crissy, Troy Jr., Nicki and Justin; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, Kathy Look and Kathy Daggett; nephew, David Daggett; special friends; and cousins, Claris and Fletcher Perkins. The family extends a special thanks to Heidi, Theresa, Brandi, Ruth and Lynn, the personal support specialists who provided him in home care. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, at Dennysville Cemetery with Wayne Seeley officiating. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services, Machias and Lubec.
