PRESQUE ISLE – Geraldine J. Michaud, 75, died Sunday night, Aug. 22, 2010, at a Fort Fairfield residence after an extended illness. She was born Dec. 9, 1934, in Castle Hill, the daughter of George and Emma (Hoffses) VanWart. She worked at Aroostook Research Farm, Presque Isle, for 15 years. Geraldine loved to dance, enjoyed listening to Fireman Fred’s music and loved to spend time with her grandkids. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Bruce and Brenda of Lincoln, Joseph and Stacey, and Michael and Cheryl, all of Presque Isle; a daughter, Sheila Bumps of Presque Isle; two brothers, Robert VanWatt of Arthurette, New Brunswick, and Vinal VanWart of Virginia Beach, Va.; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; her companion, Lawrence Gallop of Fort Fairfield; and her best friend, Beth Plummer of Presque Isle. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph “Fred” Michaud; and a brother, George VanWart. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at St. Marys Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood, with the Rev. Raymond Morency officiating.
