WASHBURN – Eleanor Cunningham, 90, passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Caribou Medical Center, Caribou. She was born April 5, 1920, in Perham, daughter of Murray and Jennie (Buzzell) Blackstone. Eleanor was a 4-H Club leader for 20 years and was invited to Washington, D.C., to be recognized for her accomplishments as an outstanding leader. She loved to cook and enjoyed embroidering. She was a former member of Perham Baptist Church and a charter member of New Life Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Sheldon Cunningham and his wife, Sandi, of Wade; three daughters, Wanita Hallowell and her husband, Larry, of Lakeland, Fla., Melvina Peary and her husband, Darryl Sr., of Corinth, and Beth Gagnon of Springville, Tenn.; and a son-in-law, Jackie Reed of Wade. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, Kevin, Shawn, Trent, Darin, Nolan Cunningham, Peter Hallowell, Darlene Budka, Darryl Peary Jr., Lisa Sullivan, Hope Couch, Ashley and Robert Gagnon, James and John Reed; a brother, Orman Blackstone and his wife, Lauretta, of Caribou; a sister, Zella Wright of Niagra Falls, N.Y.; 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Cunningham, in 2005; a daughter, Lois Reed; a brother, Alden Blackstone; and a sister, Glenna Jacques. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Friends may call noon until the time of service. Interment will take place after the service at Fairview Cemetery, Perham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of her daughter Lois Reed to C-A-N-C-E-R, P.O.
