GLENBURN – Bruce W. Hastey, 78, died Aug. 24, 2010, at a local hospital. He was born May 1, 1932, in Bangor, son of William D. and Marie (Chapels) Hastey, and was raised by William H. and Mazie (Fletcher) Chapels. Bruce graduated from Old Town High School. After graduation he served with the U.S. Air Force, where he attended radio electronic school at Scott Field, Shiloh Township, Ill. After his service in the U.S. Air Force he worked as an electrician, mechanic, glazier and antique dealer. Bruce was very actively involved in harness racing, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bruce was predeceased by his parents. Surviving in addition to his beloved wife of 59 years, Irene Hastey, are his sisters, Charlotte Mannisto and Rose Dickey; sons and daughter, Brian, Scott and his wife, Cynthia, Kelly Delano and her husband, Perley, and Timothy and his wife, Jeanna, all of Glenburn; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at Glenburn Evangelical Covenant Church, 911 Hudson Road, Glenburn, with Pastor Gregory DuBois officiating. Refreshments will be afterward.
