EAST MILLINOCKET – Esther Marie Theriault, 90, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Gosnell Hospice House, Scarborough, after a long illness. She was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, daughter of Eugene Theriault and Marie (Deschene) Theriault. She moved with her family to East Millinocket at age 4, where she resided until she graduated from Schenck High School. Although Esther never married, she was a loving mother and grandmother figure to many of her nieces and nephews. She resided in Connecticut for a short time and spent many years in Massachusetts with her dear sister, Cecile White, where she worked as a sales supervisor for Gorens Department Store, a job she loved. She also was employed at Raytheon Corp., Waltham, Mass., until she returned to Maine to make a career change attending cosmetology school. She worked as a beautician in Massachusetts and Maine. In her later years, she returned to her family homestead in East Millinocket and spent her winters in Naples, Fla. She was a long-standing member of Daughters of Isabella. Her hobbies included gardening, ceramics, embroidery, reading and spending time at camp with her family. The last sibling of the Theriault family, she was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Joseph, Ernest and Alfred; and seven sisters, Anna Pelletier, Alice and Leona Morin, Julia Beaulieu, Veronica Picard, Luella Michaud and Cecile White. She will truly be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends are invited to visit with the family 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket.
