BURLINGTON – Duane L. Hanscom, 71, went home to be with the Lord Aug. 30, 2010, at a Lincoln hospital, with his wife at his side. He was born Aug. 12, 1939, in Bangor, the son of John and Charlotte (Severance) Hanscom. Duane was a U.S. Army veteran, serving four years in Germany, and also serving in Maine and California. He worked at the East Millinocket branch of Great Northern for 19 years prior to his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Candyce (Worster) Hanscom; a brother, John Hanscom and his wife, Sheila, of Lincoln; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn Worster, Cindee and Dana Keene, and Carolyn and Wayne Bartlett; a brother-in-law, Doug and Suzanne Worster; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Lincoln Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Richardson and members of Horeb Lodge, officiating. There will be a gathering after the service at the home of John and Sheila Hanscom, 282 Frost St., Lincoln.
