ELLSWORTH – Irene B. Humphrey, 96, died Sept. 16, 2010, at Collier’s Rehabilitation and Living Center, Ellsworth. She was born June 17, 1914, in Sebasco Estates, the daughter of Howard and Dasie (Wallace) Gilliam. She worked in a Sebasco seafood processing plant for many years. She also worked with her husband, Irving, on their lobster boat, as well as made the trap heads. Irene was a wonderful and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Nazarene Church, Sebasco Estates, for more than 60 years. Irene was noted for her handmade socks. Irene is survived by son, Irving Humphrey and wife, Marie, of Eastbrook; daughter, Salva Jean Estes and husband, David; 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Irving; son, Cleveland; sisters, Elssie Wallace, Alfreda Riger and Marie Herrick; and brothers, Marvin, Raymond and Hollis Gilliam. Visiting hours will be held 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Church of the Nazarene, 445 High St., Ellsworth, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Interment will be at Sunnyside Cemetery, Eastbrook.
