SCARBOROUGH – Jacqueline “Jackie” LaBonty, 77, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough, after a lengthy illness. Jackie was born Oct. 4, 1932, in Clair, New Brunswick, daughter of Albert and Ida (Michaud) Landry. Jackie completed her high school education at Cormier High School, Edmundston, New Brunswick. After this she went to work at Royal Bank of Canada, Edmundston, New Brunswick. During this time in Jackie’s life, quite a love story began when she married Attorney Alfred E. LaBonty Jr., April 7, 1956. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage in Madawaska before Alfred’s death in 2006. Jackie was a kind and gentle woman who loved caring for her husband and family. She always carried herself with a very classic and understated elegance. She enjoyed many things during her life including bridge, flowers, traveling, golf, cooking, reading, knitting, crocheting and her sons and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred E. LaBonty Jr.; her brother, Jean’Nel Landry; and her sister, Pauleen Nolan. Jacqueline is survived by her five sons, Allan and his wife, Lisa, and their two children, Andrea and Matthew of Scarborough, Mark and his wife, Vivian, and Mark’s children, Julie, Erin and Tommy of West Lake Village, Calif., James and his wife, Mary, and their children, James Jr., Melissa and Christopher of Hooksett, N.H., Michael and his wife, Gail, of Scarborough, and Andrew and his wife, Tammy, and their sons, Connor and Cody of Cape Elizabeth; her sister-in-law, Claudette Landry of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and her sisters, Charleen and her husband, Norman Raymond, of Enfield, Conn., Odette and her husband, Carroll Theriault, of Balston Spa, N.Y., Joan and her husband, David Steinmann, of Enfield, Conn., and Joyce and her husband, Jerry Sheedy, of Wolcott, Conn. Jackie’s family thanks The Barron Center, Maine Medical Center Emergency Department and Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for the wonderful care she was given. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at St. Maximilian Kolby Church, Scarborough. Arrangements made by Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
