AUGUSTA, Maine — A conservation group is giving Gov. John Baldacci a B-plus grade for his efforts to protect Maine’s environment.
The nonprofit League of Conservation Voters, an umbrella group for other environmental organizations, issues a report card every two years. The 2010 review is based on the Baldacci administration’s actions on a dozen issues, such as air and water quality, climate change, forest management and land conservation.
Baldacci gets an A-plus for his support for a law to remove toxics from consumer items, but a C for transportation policies.
The league says it’s evaluating Maine’s candidates for governor and will make an endorsement on that basis.
