ALEXANDER – Milton Osborne Baker died Sept. 19, 2010. He was born Feb. 25, 1927, in Acton, Mass., the son of the late Ruman and Adeline (Goucher) Baker. He attended local schools and graduated from Acton High School, Class of 1945. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. He married Eileen Fairbanks, June 15, 1947. Eileen died March 6, 1986. After his military service, Mr. Baker worked for 25 years in production. He then served as a police officer and retired from the Bolton (Mass.) Police Department as detective sergeant in 1989. In 1991, he moved to Machias. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Boston; a former member of Down East Baptist Church, Machias; and at the time of his death, a member of Crawford Bible Fellowship, Crawford. Milton was predeceased by his brothers and sisters. He is survived by one son, Bruce Baker of Alexander; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias, with the Rev. Lee Cross officiating.
