GREENBUSH – Amos D. “Bud” Buck, 85, died peacefully Sept. 24, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Bradley, a son of Amos W. and Isabel (Beaudreau) Buck. Amos served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He then worked as a heavy equipment operator at Dow Air Force Base, Bangor, until its closure in 1969, and was then transferred to Willow Grove Naval Air Station in Pennsylvania, as a supervisor of heavy equipment mechanics. He remained there until his retirement in 1983. Amos and his wife then returned home to Maine and built a house in Greenbush. Amos loved the outdoors – fishing, hunting, four-wheeling and just going to “the summit.” He also loved being surrounded by family and friends at annual family reunions and pig roasts, and numerous camp parties. He is survived by six of his seven children, Linwood Buck and his wife, Evelyn, of Burlington, Arthur Buck and his partner, Grace Davis, of Milford, Gene Buck and his wife, Karen, of Milford, Dottie Buxton of Greenbush, Robin Sibley and her husband, Jimmy, of Milford and Sue Dugan and her husband, Danny, of Bradford; 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Amos was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Rose; and by his son, Stanley C. Buck. At his request, there will be no services.
