LINCOLNVILLE – Helen Theresa Prescott, 90, died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at her home on Norton’s Pond. Born Oct. 2, 1919, in McAdam, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of William and Mary Ellen (Donnelly) Donahue. In 1940, after high school graduation, Helen and her sister, Mildred, traveled by train from New Brunswick to Rockland, where they attended nursing school at Knox County General Hospital. While in training, Helen met her future husband, George E. Prescott, who was a patient at the hospital. On Aug. 10, 1942, they were married. During their retirement years George and Helen enjoyed traveling and spent the winter months in Naples, Fla., and later in Flagler Beach, Fla. Mr. Prescott died Oct. 20, 2005. Mrs. Prescott was a member of Camden Women’s Club and Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church for many years. She was a very active member of Catholic Women’s Club and attended Mass faithfully. She enjoyed meeting her friends at Bagel Caf? after morning Mass. Mrs. Prescott was fiercely competitive and she enjoyed playing Beano on Mondays at Megunticook House, and was always up for a game of cards or Dominoes. A voracious reader, Mrs. Prescott was known for her dry sense of humor and her sharp mind. Her favorite television show was “Dancing with the Stars.” She also watched golf. Surviving are her two children, Barbara A. Prescott of Leesburg, Fla., and Lincolnville, and Paul Prescott and his wife, Jolanta; two grandchildren, Matthew Prescott and Bernie Bishop, all of Camden; two sisters, Mildred “Millie” Todd of Camden and Laura Banks of Montreal; a sister-in-law, Frances Escorsio of Rockland; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; her brother, Donald; and sisters, Evelyn, Alice and Doris. Calling hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St., Camden. The Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 7 Union St., Camden, with the Rev. Mark Reinhardt officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Hosmer Pond Road, Camden, with a reception after in Cote Hall at the church.
