GUILFORD – Richard A. “Beetle” Nesbit, 77, died Oct. 11, 2010, at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft, after a short battle with cancer. He was born June 6, 1933, son of Walter and Callie (Dority) Nesbit. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and had been a member of Sangerville American Legion Post No. 165 for 37 years. He worked for Pride Manufacturing, Guilford, for many years. Beetle was still working as a janitor for Maine Highland’s Federal Credit Union, Dover-Foxcroft and delivering the Bangor Daily News. He served as a firefighter with Guilford Fire Department for 43 years, and enjoyed playing golf and walking with his many friends. We will all remember him “running” around town in his favorite little red Volkswagen. He is survived by two sisters, Jo Nesbit of Guilford and Lois Taylor of Bangor; nieces and nephews, Storie, Steve, Andy, Tracie, Wendi and Troy; and a special cousin, Jane York, who was close to him in his final days. A celebration of Beetle’s life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, at United Methodist Church, Guilford, with the Rev. Stephen Dean officiating. Private burial will be at Lawn Cemetery, Guilford.
