AUGUSTA – Barbara B. Smith died Oct. 12, 2010, in Augusta. She was born July 21, 1925, in Augusta, to Frederick L. Best and Edna (Guthrie) Best. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Cony High School, Augusta, and a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Augusta. Her husband, Robert A. Smith Sr., died Dec. 12, 2005. Surviving is a daughter, Deborah A. Love and her husband, Roger, of Derry, N.H.; three sons, the Rev. Robert A. Smith Jr. and his wife, Thelma, of Caribou, Thomas A. Smith and his wife, Mary, of Leesburg, Fla., and John S. Smith and his wife, Michele, of Shady Side, Md.; one sister, Jacqueline Cressey of Brunswick; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 60 Bangor St., Augusta. Burial will be at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
