OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Charles H. Scribner, 87, passed away Oct. 1, 2010. He was born March 28, 1923, in Bangor. Charlie graduated from John Bapst High School, Bangor, attended Holy Cross University, Worcester, Mass., the University of Maine, Orono, and graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey. He worked for Hamilton Standard, Chandler Evans, and with his sons. He was an avid tennis player into his 80s. Mr. Scribner was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army and Air Force. He leaves his wife, Eileen (O’Leary); his brother, Robert Scribner of Massachusetts; his children, Charles Jr. of Barkhamsted, Conn., Joseph of Rocky Hill, Conn., Timothy of Enfield, Conn., Maureen Scribner-Read of Kansas, Cynthia DeVine of Arizona and Sally Scribner-LoRusso of West Virginia; Eileen’s children, Edward and Joseph Moore of Maine, Allison Burton of Texas, Andrea Driscoll of Florida and John Moore of Virginia; 30 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was buried with honors Oct. 6 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. Those wishing to remember Charlie may donate to Cathedral School, 14 Locust St., Portland, ME 04101.
