ELLSWORTH – Jean (Estey) Bunker Russell, 84, died Oct. 15, 2010, at an Ellsworth health care facility. She was born Jan. 20, 1926, in Ellsworth, the daughter of John C. and Ida L. (Morrison) Estey. Jean worked for more than 15 years as a surgical nurse at New England Baptist Hospital, Boston, and Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth, retiring in 1973. She was a member of United Baptist Church, Ellsworth, for more than 40 years, where she served as president of the missionary society for four years, and was very active in the music ministry and Baptist youth fellowship. Jean was also one of the founding contributors for the church’s Sunday morning broadcast on WDEA radio. She is survived by her husband, H. Winfield Russell; a son, J. Jeffrey Bunker and wife, Jane, of Bow, N.H.; a nephew, Joseph Jordan of Duxbury, Mass.; two stepdaughters, Audrey Mitchell and husband, John, of Ellsworth and Pamela Trieu, of Falmouth; six stepgrandchildren and one great-stepgrandchild. She was predeceased by her first husband, Harold N. Bunker; and her sister, Ida F. Jordan. A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at United Baptist Church, 38 Pine St., Ellsworth, with the Rev. Robert Maddocks officiating.
