COLUMBIA FALLS – Gordon L. Smith, 62, died Oct. 16, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 3, 1947, in Harrington, son of Nelson Smith and Margaret (Oliver) Smith Pineo. Gordon attended and graduated in 1966 from Columbia Falls High School. After graduation he went to Bath Iron Works, returned to Columbia Falls to work for bridge construction. Gordon went to work at Pineo Lumber Co., where he became owner upon his stepfather’s death. He was married March 23, 1969, to Muriel (Tucker) Smith. They had two sons, Dwayne and Dale. He was a member of the Masonic Tuscan Lodge No. 106 and Anah Temple Shrine. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, auto racing and animals. He was a good family man who loved his family. He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Pineo; and stepfather, Morris Pineo. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Muriel; two sons, Dwayne Smith and his wife, Kim, and Dale Smith, all of Columbia Falls; two grandsons, Derek and Devin, whom he loved very much; his father and stepmother, Nelson and Linda Smith of Jonesboro; many special friends and family. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the former Columbia Falls Elementary School. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at Columbia Falls United Methodist Church. Donations in his memory may be made to The Ark Animal Shelter, P.O.
