BOSTON — The Maine women’s soccer team earned its eighth straight America East playoff berth Sunday despite a 2-0 loss to America East regular-season champion Boston University Sunday.

The Black Bears, ranked sixth in the tournament, will travel to face Hartford in Thursday’s quarterfinals.

Brittany Heist notched a goal in the first half while Tiya Gallegos added the insurance goal in the 65th minute for the 14-5 Terriers. Jessica Luscinski and Lisa Kevorkian each tallied an assist. Alice Binns and Kelly King combined for four saves on seven shots.

Meagan Price-Leibenzeder made four saves on 23 shots for the 7-8 Black Bears.
